I hope Christ helped make your Christmas 2013 special.
Thinking of who’s special to you I offer this photo of Pud iltz. Here is a gorgeous quilt she made lifting up some of her special friends she so enjoys. Who are the friends you enjoy? Is God your best friend?
Harry Schafer will be preaching Sunday. I encourage you to listen to Harry’s comments about God and humor!
Happy New Year. I’m reminded of one of the last statements of John Wesley, when he said “Thank God, the best is yet to come. This is what God wants for you in 2014! Your servants for Christ- Pastor John and Maureen.
In God’s own wonderful way He already has shopped for you! What gift has God purchased for you? Himself in Jesus Christ. You see while Jesus entered this world humanly like each of us, he just wasn’t born he was sent! Jesus left the throne of heaven and was sent to this earth for you….and for me! John puts it most pointedly in saying: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
I recently visited Pud iltz and she sums up what Christmas means with a certain word she has in her dwelling. May God bless you with the gift of believing in Him this Christmas…Christ the Lord!
This coming Sunday we celebrate that life is found in the one who is the Light of the World-Jesus himself!
Merry Christmas-Jesus is Lord-Pastor John and Maureen
Before our high school football team left Friday morning Dec. 6th to play in the State 2B football championship game I sent a word to our local paper encouraging our team. In the very short paragraph I reminded the team of a true story from the 1924 Olympics held in Paris, France. A Scot named Eric Liddell, was about ready to run in the 400 meter race and an American Howard Schultz came up to him and gave him a note. The note referred to a scripture in I Samuel 2:30: “the LORD declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.” Liddell went on to run 47.6 and win the Olympic gold medal. I asked the football team to honor the Lord with each touchdown they scored by lifting their hand in the air pointing to the Lord.
So fast forward to the State Championship game on December 7th. We received the kickoff from Morton White Pass and ran it back to our 31st yard line. On the first play of the game-Connor O’Neil sweeps left and streaks down the side line to a touchdown. As he turned around after scoring to return to The Lind-Ritzville-Sprague side line my heart praised God when Connor raised his hand thanking God by pointing up! Wow-my heart sang for joy! Have you ever seen a streaker??? The photo I’ve included here is simply the streak of him beginning his touchdown run he will forever remember!
Wow, isn’t it amazing what can happen when we honor God Almighty!
Let’s fast forward to this coming Sunday. How much do we really know about Mary or Miryam (in Hebrew) the mother of Jesus? Come Sunday and I’ll share some of the latest research about the life of Mary!
This coming Sunday afternoon we will host the Little Learners Ritzville Community Christmas program here at 3pm.
Merry Christmas-Honor the Lord Jesus Christ and God our Heavenly Father…and be amazed what HE will do in your life.
Jesus is coming ready or not! We celebrate the second Sunday in Advent tomorrow. Tomorrow’s service will be our 2013 Christmas Program. Special music and a special word from Kara Eckley, Valerie Eckley and myself. Don’t miss it. Following the program Maureen and I want to say thank you to you the congregation by hosting a party in the social hall after worship
I write to you this morn from Wesley Gardens, Seattle, where I am visiting my mother and preparing to see our Lind Ritzville Sprague Football team play for another state 2b high school football title. See you tomorrow-when we will celebrate the truth found in John 1:14-“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory as the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
