No one has impacted our culture and world like Jesus. Jesus the Christ. Beginning Friday February 28th, the movie “Son of God” is showing in theaters throughout our area. It’s showing at the Fairchild Theatre in Moses Lake Friday at 4:30; 6:45; and 9:25. The cost for weekday movies is adults $10 and seniors (those over 60) pay $7.50. On Saturday and Sunday the movie will play at 1:15; 4:30; 6:45, and 9:20. The same prices apply.
This Sunday we look at a very practical question-“How Do we Know Jesus Christ Existed”? We all have a lot of questions about Jesus? How have we come to believe in his supernatural miracles? How did the first Gospels of Jesus come into being? This Sunday March 2nd is prep for our 2014 Lenten Theme-“Who Is This Man” by John Ortberg. Beginning March 9th we are going at look at Jesus’ life in a way that I guarantees you learning new things about Jesus you have never known before!
In this physical world the majority of guys think that toughness is about muscles, brains, and unfortunately drinking a six pack of beer. This is a very limited view of toughness. It’s what I call as a baby boomer (kid of the sixties) the Clint Eastwood “Dirty Harry” (name of 1971 first in series of cop movies) syndrome.
Toughness in the Bible is not gender exclusive. Some of the toughest people in the Bible are women and not just men. A biblical reference is Zechariah 4:6 “So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” Toughness in the worldly sense is military might, and big three hundred fifty pound Seattle Sea Hawk football players, but toughness spiritually has to do with the Spirit. God’s Spirit touching your spirit.
Sunday we look at the story of Esther. Toughness is really about what it means to be a people of courage. We all need courage like we need air. We really can’t live without courage any more we can live without oxygen. Thank you O God for Esther, for she shows us what it means to be tough: a tough mind and a tender heart. See ya Sunday! Pastor John and Maureen!
