Words. Words encourage or condemn. Words convey respect or tell others where they “can go.” Today the N word is discouraged, along with the F word, or the S word or the GD word, Yet, what is the most terrible word in the human language? Its’ not what most people think!
Yes cuss words and gutter thinking should be least out of the mind and mouth. Yet there is a word that flies low on our radar, and is so damaging to souls. What’s the word? The word is regret.
Regret is the product of a moment in your life or my life when we had a choice. We could have taken the high road of integrity and respect or the low road of disrespect, and negativity. We took the low road and made a choice that now as we look back -we REGRET. We wish we could do it over again-but no we can’t.
So be wise with words. Make choices that please your soul and result in words that uplift not degrade. I challenge you to pay attention to the words of Jesus Christ like: “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The WORDS I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63). Speak wonderful words of life.

We live in a world of illusion. What appears to be is not always reality. Sort of like all those television commercials that make claims only to be followed by all kinds of small fine print that you can hardly read. The fine print may then reveal that the original claim is not real. Illusion, illusion, illusion. Illusion is what scams and hustles are -promise you one thing but are anything but real.
Jesus Christ was and is today for real. There’s no fine print or hustle with Jesus! He means what He says and He says what He means. Do you know him? It’s amazing how many people blow Jesus off to be like some other hustler. Yet they don’t seriously read His Living Words. Many complain today that prayer doesn’t work – but they don’t believe that God or Jesus really exist. Here is where a follower of Jesus named Paul reminds us: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him (Heb 11:6).” Jesus is not illusion and fine print. Jesus is for real! Seek him and you will surely find His reality, His goodness, and His beauty.
Sunday we celebrate the colors of summer-especially the color green, with the theme: “Keep Green-Keep Growing in God’s Love.”
Summer is going fast. Your Servants for Christ-Pastor John and Maureen
Yet comfort can so get in the way of what is primary. Jesus calls you and me to take up our cross and follow Him and reality is that sometimes what we say or do for the cause of Christ will cause discomfort. Yet we exist not first for comfort or ourselves; we exist to lift up the new life found only in Jesus Christ. What’s key is what Jesus Christ has done for all of us through His death and resurrection.
So enjoy air conditioning, and an ice tea this summer. Realize that its your love for Jesus that is primary and not first your comfort. When comfort is possible then of course its a way to introduce others to Jesus. Yet don’t let your comfort or bodily needs determine what you will or won’t do for Jesus.

What makes July 4th special? Fireworks. Regardless of age-most enjoy colored lights and bangs in the sky, except if you are a dog.
I so remember a July 4 years ago. Maureen and I were with our four
boys at Greenlake in Seattle for a fire works show. As people saw the fireworks they shouted wow—-. As the wows continued through the crowd I remembered: 2 Thessalonians 4:16-17: ” For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first. Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord! Now that’s really a wow. Talk about fireworks and a light show. Why is it special? Because as a believer in Jesus Christ it will involve you and me.
See ya Sunday. We will seek the Lord’s face and His blessing for Harvest 2015! Remember worship begins this Sunday at 9:30. Be ready for the Lord’s fireworks-and his light show as you watch July 4th fireworks! Lift up your eyes to the sky. A real fireworks show is coming!
