There I was Monday June 27 with Maureen and family enjoying two old grand-daughter Aubrey. Helping her get a kite up in the pacific ocean air-I wondered if we ‘lift off’ as easily as this kite lifted off and flew.
Who or what is it that lifts you up, that helps you to fly into a new atmosphere or a new awareness of God?
When Jesus returns what we will all do? We will turn our heads heaven word, just as we do when we fly kites. Luke 21:28 says: When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
So allow yourself to be transported, or flown so to speak by The Holy Spirit. As the song goes: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earthly will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace.”
Enjoy that kite. Who flies you?
See ya Sunday-remember worship is at our 9:30 am summer schedule.

M and I have been playing hooky at the beach at our eventual retirement home. Was walking downtown Long Beach and bingo this sweatshirt was in the window. Is this what you and I believe?
No God is never “off duty”! Wether its national politics, or some personal need or watching our local sports team behind-we all tend to think if we just work harder we can “save ourselves”. Wow what an illusion! Our deepest need is for a Savior! This is how God created us to be!
So enjoy summer! How do we enjoy life? We enjoy by realizing that God is God, and we aren’t! Don’t give into the illusion of thinking you can save yourself! Be wise-be open to realize Jesus came to be the Savior of our everyday lives!
See ya Sunday-as we enjoy Father’s Day with guest concert musician John Nilsen

Jesus understood people. Jesus today has ‘street smarts’. How do you rate your ‘street smarts?’
What are ‘street smarts?’: it’s an inner ability to understand that people aren’t just what they say; it’s a connection between your head and soul telling you there’s more to a situation than just what you see or hear. It’s an ability within the soul to see what is out of place; it’s an ability to anticipate future actions by people that don’t presently show themselves.
As a twenty year old I left the ivory tower world of the university classroom and spent a year ministering on the streets of Seattle. I learned more from kids on the street about the good, bad, and ugliness of people than all of my previous book learning. Those ‘street smart’ life lessons have blessed me big time as I have gotten older.
Example of street smarts: Proverbs 27:6-:”Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” In other words the no holds barred truth from a friend is always better than a wishy washy someone supporter who wants to harm you.
So be street smart-like Christ!

God is God and we aren’t! We can enjoy life and still honor our Creator-Redeemer.
God isn’t a kill joy who demands we forfeit fun in order to be faithful. Jesus, knew how to party and still honor The Alpha and Omega.
In a pleasure before anything else narcissistic culture-we cross the line all too often! Exodus 20:7 (chapter containing the ten commandments) says:” No using the name of God, your God, in curses or silly banter; God won’t put up with the irreverent use of his name.”
Just as God’s name deserves respect-so it is with the symbol of the cross.
Here’s my beef. Out of all the symbols for marijuana stores to use-I take exception that all weed stores use what symbol? A green cross. IT’S HIGHLY OFFENSIVE!
Would you like it if your name was used in vain?
God is not pleased that the symbol of the two new marijuana stores in town use the cross as their symbol.
Play ball-enjoy life but don’t mock God in what you do or enjoy!
