From the moment I cast out my line for steelhead I can count on the line drifting-so I better pay attention. So it is with culture-people believe truth changes, and is drifting. Many cultural spiritual leaders say truth is evolving-we need new ‘truth’ for a new day; not that old balcony from geezers. Excuse me as I vomit-at this point of view. How sad! Why? It’s simply not true!
For example take our country’s constitution:”We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” This truth is the same today as of 240 years ago.
Up against drift we have the anchor who is Jesus Christ. Truth isn’t just a definition-it’s a person-namely Jesus who declares: “I am the way, the truth, and the life no person comes to the Father except by me.(John 14:6-7).” Oh friend, the truth of the Living Word who is Jesus Christ, never changes. Or as the follower of Jesus named Paul puts it: “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8).”

Hello to the new Ghost Buster movie fans. Those in the Ghost Buster movies discover ghosts, trying to capture or destroy them.
The supernatural is real. Everyone is curious about the supernatural. Television, cinema, and the stage have numerous tv shows,movies and plays dealing with the supernatural. Interest in where-wolves, zombies,the walking dead craze, comic book heroes with supernatural powers, the occult, and all the various forms of spirituality are at an all time high.
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ-we as believers do believe in spirits and ghosts-especially the Holy Spirit. The Jesus follower named John tells us-“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world (I John 4:1).”
Be open to the moving of the Holy Spirit-The Holy Ghost. Don’t reject this spirit’s touch upon your spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with you today-its purpose being to remind you of all that Jesus Christ said and to point you to Jesus Christ as God’s way, truth, and life.
Don’t be a ghost buster-be a Holy Ghost encourager!

Notice how often the American flag is at half staff?
In sports there usually is a half time; my favorite creamer is half and half; and then there’s a half truth. Politics is full of half truth; candidates often tell half truths. If we aren’t careful we can tell half truths.
What’s a half truth? A half truth is a statement that conveys only part of the truth, especially one used deliberately in order to deceive someone. Are you a half staff person?
When Satan spouted half truths- Jesus responded-“Man must not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matt 4:4).”
Let us be saved from thinking or telling half truths. Be open to all points of view; don’t believe something because others do. Experience truth yourself.
It’s only in a saving love relationship with the Living God in Jesus Christ-that we are more than a half staffed people.

Les thanks for showing Jesus to your family, church and community. You over the twelve years I knew you left a huge spiritual soul print upon everyone you knew.
In a day when commitment to Jesus is so luke warm thanks Les for being so open to being a Jesus’ follower. You were a “Yes” man for Christ in the most positive sense of the word. Matthew 5:37 has Jesus telling us: “Let your yes be yes and your no be no for anything more is from the evil one.” Your yes led you to stand up, stand up for Jesus in so many lasting ways.
Les thanks for being a Christian cowboy, for loving people, for loving the great out of doors, for being a free spirit, for being a superb story teller, and Christian poet.
In a culture where so few men acknowledge you publicly Jesus-I say thanks Lord for Les’ wit, his love for knowing and applying your Holy Word, and his giving to others. Thanks for saying Yes to Jesus in so many outstanding ways.
You powerfully touched my soul, and for that I am eternally grateful.
So Les, I end with the famous song from another Christian Cowboy couple-Roy and Dale Evans Rogers: “Happy Trails to you until we meet again; happy trails to you-keep smiling until then. What is it that makes you and I tick? What is it we like think is really important??? What is it…honesty, compassion, being a good listener? Close, but there is one value way ahead of all other values.
What is it? SPEED! No, not the illegal drug, but the addictive external thrill called speed. Now on the freeway if I’m in the passing lane doing seventy five about to pass someone in the right lane, here comes speedy gonzalez passing me on the right and charging in front of me before he kisses the tail end of the person I’m about to pass. Amazing.
Speed is a life style. Go, go,go- got to be here-got to be there! No wonder there’s so many people having heart attacks!
If we are going to hurry-then let’s hurry to the Lord!
