Thank you Usain. Usain, Sunday, August 14th won the 100 meter sprint for the third consecutive summer Olympics.
What did he do before and after the race? He crossed himself declaring “to God be the glory”.Wow, wow, wow.
Why do we forget God in our up moments in life? Why is it when we reach a certain mountain top that God is the last person we think of? James, got it right when he said: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (1:17). To be alive is to thank God, the giver of everything good we enjoy.
So, the next time something good comes your way cross yourself as a Jesus follower, or point up to the sky-thanking God for the gift that God wants you to enjoy! Like Usain, you can do it.
See ya Sunday-following worship you are welcome to help discuss our plans for Sunday School and Fall Ministries!

Compare Jason and Jesus. Jason Borne is the new movie (5th installment) of a James Bond type.
Similarities: both represent kingdoms. Jason a former CIA assassin; Christ points to The Kingdom of God. Jason is betrayed by the government he worked for; Christ is betrayed by his followers-Judas. Both seek inner peace.
Differences? Jason uses the cultural violence that programed him —now against the government he earlier worked for. Unlike Jason, Jesus is counter culture. He choose not to get caught up in the same way of thinking or living as the culture around him.
Jason can’t find the peace he longs for; yet Jesus is the peace he lives; saying: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives (John 14:27).
The movie Jason Borne ends as it began with confusion, anger, and stinging revenge which opens the door to the next Borne movie.
Yet Jesus has changed it all. His life, death, and resurrection-have forever changed everything. Jesus is alive today!
Who’s your action hero? Choose life-choose Jesus the Christ!
