Hello from the Bible belt and Lubbock, Texas. Have been here since Thursday evening, enjoying family.
I recall Rev. Bill Easum saying years ago that the biggest difference between the recent past and today is that no longer do grandparents read Bible stories to those younger. For many of us boomers we had either a parent, grandparent, or relative put us on their lap and read Bible stories to us. Not so today.
Last night I found myself on the living room floor with three year old grand-daughter Aubrey, reading her Bible stories. She had many questions. Wow to look into the soul of a three year old is such a treat. She was full of curiosity, awe, and wonder. Question. Who do you have on your lap reading Bible stories?
Dean White, will be sharing this morning his story of how he came to belief in Jesus! Its so important that we share with each other how we have come to faith in The King of Kings!
Enjoy! Be back soon! Will be worshipping with son and daughter in law, at a United Methodist Church today! Miss you all! Pastor John-Maureen
The wisest King to ever live-namely Solomon-reminds us: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven (Eccles. 3:1).“
Isn’t God’s timing so amazing? Is it just an accident; is it just coincidence that someone came into your life. No, there is no such thing as coincidence. God has a time and purpose for everything under heaven.
Two years ago with my mother’s passing-I saved her lift chair, and walker with the hope that some day God would make these items available to be used by others in need. Just the other day this dream came true. The Lord brought a woman across my path and bingo she is able to use the chair and walker in her daughter’s home while she recovers from a fall and broken bones.
Happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving if it is real leads people into lives of thanks-living. Its always timely to tell the Lord and others-thanks.

The new Oxford Dictionary word of 2016 is: “post-truth”. It’s defined as “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”
Wow how sad. What I interpret this word to mean is that what’s important to more people is not first truth or falsehood, but image. Images appeal to our emotions as commercial makers know.
Oh friends this world is full of lies.
As followers of Jesus Christ we are not to have the world do our thinking for us. God wants each of us to do our own thinking based on Holy Scripture. The follower of Christ named John is clear: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world (I John 4:4).”
As Christ followers we believe in the absolutes of God. Not post truth. God in Jesus is Truth. His Truth is unchanging, despite whatever cultural shifts take place.
Christmas Music practice and advent decorating after worship this Sunday with Chili and home made bread! See ya!

American history / Bible can help in election debriefing. Ecclesiastes 1:9:”There is nothing new under the sun” so fits the quote: “Those who don’t learn the lessons from the past are condemned to repeat them (George Santanuya).”
Maybe today’s USA tension is a repeat of the Civil War times: state rights vs federal rights, race issue, economics-jobs. There’s been talk of California seceding from the union this week.
Maybe today is similar to the 1950’s thru the 1970’s. Cultural earthquakes so changed the American society back then: Vietnam, sexuality, race ala civil rights, anti institutions including the Christian church.
What are we to do?
To understand society we first soul search, for Jesus says ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11: 28-30.)
Time out America! Submit to God’s way of seeing people and the world. God has seen this turmoil before.
See ya Sunday- we celebrate Trinity’s 128th Anniversary.
God creates everyone with a body, mind, soul and conscience. One’s conscience gives a basic sense of right and wrong.
In this election a clean conscience is better than meds.
So before you accuse another-take a moment to look into your own heart and soul. Paul says: “The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith ( I Timothy 1:5).”
Pay attention to your conscience when it tells you what is right and wrong. Receive further strength from reading/knowing God’s Word.
Upon repentance receive God’s forgiveness and value your clean conscience. A clean conscience causes the need for less meds.
Remember this Sunday is fall back an hour-See ya soon!-John and Maureen!
