What did the Spirit reveal in my visiting and talking with farmers during harvest 2017 ?
1.) It ought to be a national law that all young people 15 and under live and work on a farm for a full year learning how to work and valuing interdependence. Youngsters need to learn how to be part of a team that depends on each person pulling their own weight toward a common goal like getting a crop in;
2.) Through work we learn the value of money. Why is it that so many are in bad credit card debt? Wow-learning the difference between need and want is crucial. To work on a farm is the best vaccine against developing an entitlement complex-thinking that everybody owes me;
3. Isn’t it time that the Wheaties had a wheat farmer on its cereal front cover? Yes football, or baseball players can be role models. Yet I nominate a farmer for the cover. I nominate farmer Andy Schall.
See you Sunday! Pastor John-Maureen
Talk is cheap. People can talk nice to you to your face but behind your back it’s different. People talk about love-but in reality what at times comes out is a spirit of competition that is very self centered. People can be so insecure about what they believe that any one who is different is seen as a threat-and ostracized because they are judged as not being a “team player.”
So what’s it with you? Your life? Your present? Your future? Are you filled with competition or co-operation? Think of your marriage, your job, or how you relate to others.
If only people could co-operate instead of be centered on competition. This is how we see the human body work: -co-operation not competition.
Competition stresses winning over losing. Yet co-operation emphasizes that everyone can contribute to the project and that we can do more together than just as lone rangers.
Church picnic in the Ritz Park after worship-this Sunday at 11:30am.
Stay cool- Pastor John and Maureen
We live in a competitive world. Competition is what business and sports are about. The team that scores the most always wins. People compete against each other in all kinds of ways.
Into this competitive world has come Jesus and His local church. Who is the Church of Jesus Christ? It’s people like you and me and not some building. People who are unashamed to admit and commit to the way, the truth and the life who is Jesus! People who are broken and imperfect, but beautiful, all because of what? The love of Jesus Christ.
Think of Ritzville. No one feeds people more, no one attends to people in jail more, no more loves people in our area hospital or care centers more, no one cares for the hungry-needy who come through town more than the followers of Jesus. No one can out love the people of Jesus Christ.
John, tells us: “Greater is He who is in you, than he that is in the world (I John 4:4).” Its Jesus in you that is the hope of the world. The local church outloves!
See ya Sunday- Pastor John
There’s a show called: “Preacher” on the AMC channel Monday nights.
This preacher doesn’t know God. He’s on a journey to find God. Talk about upside down. I thought preachers were those males or females who first came to know God and then became preachers;
This preacher tells people that God has left this world.
This “Preacher” says his power rivals that of God.
We live in a day of make your own religion. Take a few beatitudes, some horoscope, some Hare Krishna, a tarot card, some Jesus and mix it all together and bingo-you have a new religion. I met a woman the other day who told me of the “Jedi Religion” a spinoff from the Star Wars Movies.
I became a believer in God through Jesus Christ and then became a Pastor-preacher; 2. God is here on earth now in the living Jesus Christ; 3. Christ comforts-instructs through The Holy Spirit.
If you are a fan of this show I would respectfully like to hear from you about what you find in this show. No judgment.
See you in worship- Pastor-Preacher John
Life is full of surprises. Try this on!
For the last week if not longer we have had a quail in the church building. Along with others we have tried all kinds of things to get the quail to realize it belongs out side. Open doors, nice talking, and even praying has been used in order to get the quail out of our building. Paul tells us in Philippians 4:6-7-” Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
So, come to worship with your heart this Sunday. If you are a bird hunter you might want to either bring a shot gun, or like me I would prefer to catch the bird in my steal head fishing net. Anybody have a bird dog?
We might want to consider a church mascot! I’m considering a name for the bird-besides “Tweetie”!
Grilled burgers after worship- stay cool- Pastor John and Maureen
In this hot weather when we don’t drink enough water our body lets us know. So it is with God’s word. We get fuzzy headed when we don’t take in God’s refreshing LIVING WORD. Without it in our hearts, minds and souls, we become disoriented. Jesus says: “Anyone who believes in me may come and drink, For the Scriptures declare “Rivers of living water will flow from his heart (John 7:37-38).”
So drink up by taking in God’s Living Word!
Sunday I will report on Annual Conference. Come with any questions you have and I will do my best to answer on what I know. Pastor John and Maureen.
It’s important we ambush Satan with a thank you to God Almighty. Satan isn’t counting on you thanking or praising God. Any time you do thank or praise God-we are ambushing Satan.
A new solider in Christ’s army is Lauren Diagle. If you are open to songs that speak from the heart then check out her music. In fact her songs and voice are so unique its tough picking my favorite because her songs all capture my heart. If pushed I would say the song, “Trust You” is my favorite. Google Lauren Diagle and check out her music.
Ambush Satan with a praise to God.
Dennis Borgman, a retired Pastor will be speaking this Sunday on the theme entitled: “Give It Your All”.
Stay cool. Pastor John
My garden needs help. I haven’t been putting enough nutrients back into the soil so to have a good garden crop. So I have started a compost pile so to help fertilize the soil. So it is with us spiritually.
Put nutrients back into the soil of your soul? Too often we may feel stuck like we are plateauing out. Too often boredom may come our way. What’s the answer? Fertilize spiritually. Consider:
1. John Piper’s book: How to Read the Bible Supernaturally. An excellent read. Reading is key to your spiritually moving forward with new insights. Piper writes short and crisp sentences, full of meaning and spiritual insights that will increase your love for Christ;
2. Pay attention to a relatively new Christian singer: Lauren Daigle and her CD-How Can it Be? She has great pipes and her songs are poetry in motion, full of creative language that will so bless your inner life.
So what will your garden with God’s help produce this summer? Maybe tomatoes, sweet corn, and leafy greens? Better yet enjoy new fruits of the Spirit by fertilizing spiritually-through new reads and music.
Remember worship tomorrow at 9:30 am- Pastor John
We live in the best and worst of times. We can be wishy-washy about who and what we believe or we can choose instead to contend. To contend means to:“engage in a competition or campaign in order to win or achieve something (American Heritage Dictionary).
I so recall as a young boy having my dad, (a US Army Chaplain who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam) take me to an American Military Cemetery in Luxembourg. All I could were acres and acres of white crosses. Those were young men who decided to contend against Nazi Germany and all it stood for. Who and what do you contend for today?
Oh friend, be a contender. Know what your spiritually and politically believe about life. Paul, an early follower of Christ tells us in Jude 3: “I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.
Contend for Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom of God. Contend for His Kingdom which is more and more coming upon this world. Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Be a contender for Jesus Christ.
See you tomorrow in worship. Pastor John Hunsberger
News, news, news. It’s important to be educated intellectually and spiritually.
With all the emphasis on how different people are-due to race, economics, sexual orientation, and politics, isn’t it great to know how God emphasizes what we all have in common?
We all have the same God who physically created us and gave us life. We all have struggles in our earthly lives. But praise God-there also are answers, solutions, and God’s transformation.
Special thanks to all those in took part in the recently concluded five continuous weeks of a community forum on “Alcohol and Drugs”. The law enforcement officials, the medical panel, the school officials, those who spoke from the recovery aspect, and finally the excellent presentation put on by the Grant/Adams County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Task Force all helped us to be informed about what’s happening with the Alcohol Drug scene in our community. First thanks goes to God’s Holy Spirit-which guided our five weeks of important conversation.
So, with God’s Holy Scriptures in one hand and the newspapers of all persuasions in the other hand-let’s continually be informed. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and literally Our Life (John 14:6).
See ya Sunday!-Pastor John and Maureen
